As my weekend treat, I look forward to a curry from Saffron Rice, a movie and a bottle of wine. I've tried the others in town but I only go to Saffron Rice now - the food's great and the staff are always very friendly.

Saffron Rice Balti Specials  

1. Balti Exotica £6.95

Combination of chicken. Lamb and king prawns cooked in a medium spiced balti sauce, authentically prepared with fresh herbs and spices.

2. Balti King Prawn Sondia £6.95

King prawn and finely chopped onions, briskly fried in purified butter ghee and basic oriental spices.  This fairly hot dish is decorated with sliced green chillies.

3. Balti Cham Cham £5.45

Long pieces of chicken breast cooked with red and green peppers, fresh herbs and tomatoes.

4. Balti Chicken Delight £5.45

A wide variety of tandoori spices and herbs cooked together with a marinated boneless chicken and chopped onions to produce a dish of exceptional flavour although medium in strength.

Chicken tikka cooked with onions, red peppers, herbs and aromatic balti flavoured sauce with fresh lemon.

Boneless breasts of chicken cooked with mild spices in a buttered sauce with sliced almonds, raisins and cashew nuts.

Marinated chicken cooked with fresh whole green chillies.

Cooked with spicy minced meat with chicken tikka, delicately blended in a medium strength balti sauce.

10. Medium Balti Chicken or Lamb £5.45

Balti is essentially a method of cooking curries quickly on the stove using a balti pan, incorporating the techniques known as ‘bagar’ where the spices are flash-fried to release there taste.

11. Balti Chicken Bombay £5.45

Variety of medium strength herbs and spices are used in preparation of this dish, mainly consisting of chunky pieces of potatoes and boiled egg.
